Kids, Massage, Heat, and Photos

Here are some photos from yesterday's trip to the countryside. There's the feast we were fed at the house in the countryside and the house from the outside. As you can see, it's pretty modern looking.
So, not that this will surprise anyone, but I've got a private tuk tuk driver. His name is Sopee and we just call him whenever we want to ride and he appears within minutes. I'm sure we are over paying him but believe me, it's worth it. Also, in keeping with the tradition, I've had at least an hour of massage every day. For less than $5 - how can you pass that up? Thai massge every night before going to sleep. Except for the vivid dreams (Í'm taking malaria meds) I've been sleeping like a rock.
Anyway, yesterday we taught an art class at the center. One quick note before the details on that - it was a scorcher of a day. The kids are so funny when they see how hot I get. They wipe my face and fan me with their little hands. I haven't passed out yet, but I think they think I'm close to dropping. Of course, they don't even break a slight sweat which is a little disconcerting. I'm sure it's cause they don't drink any water and I'm drinking gallons a day.
Ok, so back to the art class. We walked in with the art supplied and about 30 kids attacked us. They were all so excited. It took a us about 15 minutes to settle them down and hand out the paper and art supplies. We had crayons, colored pencils and pens, and chalk. They all finally sat down and drew some amazing pictures.

All of them were bright and colorful except for one little boy who drew on dark grey paper with black and red pen. I guess he's the dark and brooding type. All in all it was a great day. We've got a pile of pictures to bring home with us.
Last night we went to the Foreign Correspondents Club aka FCC for drinks. It's one of the most well known places in Phnom Penh. All the ex pats hang out there and the drinks are good and strong. Had my vodka and soda with lemon which was fantastic! The bar is up on the roof which provides and amazing view of the river.

After that we had dinner at Friends The Restaurant which trains local kids in the restaurant and hospitality industry. The food is tapas style and was delicious. Last stop if the day was the Massage place where we treated ourselves to TWO hours oif Thai Massage. Decadent I know but we're worth it!
Today, we are going to the Russian Market to shop shop shop! Our tuk tuk driver is picking us up at 11am. After that we'll go to the Center to work with the kids and watch them do a traditional dance show at 4pm. Tonight Drew has lined up a boat ride down the Meekong River. Should be fun.
